Meet The Team

Natalie Robinson

Youth Worker in Charge

I have worked at Rosario since 2006.

I began my Youth Work Journey as a senior member of St Agnes Youth Centre. My participation there enabled me to gain a range of essential and life skills, developing qualities that would assist me on a personal basis and sparked my interest in youth work as a professional career.

From 1998 to 2002 I was a part time youth worker at St Agnes Youth Centre, successfully completing the BSC Hons Community Youth Work. In 2002 I undertook my first full time position as an area youth worker in the Boy’s Model school and detached Youth Worker in the Upper Shankill area.

Further to this, I held a few other positions including Young Adult Development worker at Holy Trinity Youth Centre and Youth Worker in Charge at St Agnes Youth Centre. These posts were all temporary in nature. When the opportunity arose for the post of Youth Worker in Charge at Rosario Youth Centre, the time was right for a new challenge.

During the past number of years, I have successfully undertaken a range of training and development that has furthered my professional development.

My Training to date includes: Managing challenging behaviour, Circle of courage, Mentoring, Take 5, First aid, Mental health and well-being, Sexual health and well-being, Safeguarding, Health and safety, Child sexual exploitation, and Global development.

I enjoy overseeing the extensive range of our youth work provision in partnership with a team of dedicated youth workers, particularly the initial building of relationships with young people and our mentoring programme, as this is where we can really get to know the young people and plan how best to support them and meet their emerging needs, assisting them to make positive, healthy informed choices about their own lives and become the best versions of themselves.

Mark Jones

Deputy Youth Worker in Charge

I started at Rosario first when I was a young person at the age of five and I haven’t left since!

I have been working at Rosario since 2015.

As a young person, I got the opportunity to learn new skills, gain qualifications and volunteering which I loved doing. This led to me having an amazing experience volunteering in Arad, Romania, two years in a row, helping disadvantaged young people, which was life changing.

This inspired me to make youth work a career by joining the Youth Work Degree which I graduated from in July 2020. During my degree I got the opportunity to do a placement in Durban, South Africa for three months which was only possible because of my experience at Rosario as a young person.

At the centre I am a Mentor in the Mentoring Programme, I facilitated many different groups from Young Men’s/Women’s Programmes, Transition Programmes, Duke of Ed Groups, Volunteering Programmes and Personal Development Programmes.

My favourite part of the centre is the mentoring programme, I enjoy supporting young people as much as I can on their journey through life.

Alongside my full time role at Rosario, I am also a Youth Support Worker at Streetbeat Youth Project in the Woodvale/Shankill area.

My Training/Qualifications include Community Youth Work Degree, Child Protection, Managing Challenging Behaviour, Autism Awareness, Take 5, First Aid, Child Exploitation and many more.

Caitlin Catney

Youth Support Worker

I started Rosario as a young person when I was around nine, then as I got older, I started to volunteer.

I became a Youth Support Worker, which I have been since 2014.

Within my years of volunteering I was lucky enough to go to Romania during the summer for two years in a row to work with disadvantaged young people within orphanages.

Within my time at Rosario I have been involved in young women’s groups, transition programmes, homework support groups, drop in, and mentor in the mentoring programme. I really enjoyed working with the transition programme, getting to see the young people express and overcome their fears of taking the big step from primary to post primary and how much they enjoy it when they actually start first year.

I also have been a mentor to the young people through the mentoring programme. This provides a space for young people to take time out of their night when and as it suits them to have a chat, or to discuss any ongoing topics or issues.

I think youth work is important as it offers young people a safe environment to express and explore their own identities and to interact with people where they may not get the chance to otherwise.

My Trainings/qualifications are OCN level 2&3, Autism Awareness Training, First Aid, Child Protection, Managing Challenging Behaviour, Take 5 and many more.

Mairead King

Youth Support Worker

I started out in Rosario as a young person and then became a volunteer from this experience. I got the opportunity to do Millennium Volunteers which then lead me into the Junior club to make up my hours to complete this certificate.

I then took the role of becoming a Youth Support Worker which I have been in since 2017.

I have facilitated a Young Women’s Programme working on issues that young women face throughout their lives and development.

I think Youth Work is important because it gives young people an opportunity to get involved, meet new people and participate in a variety of different groups that are offered to them.

Training/ qualifications that I have are First Aid, Child Protection, Autism Awareness, and OCN level 2 & 3.

Chloe Ballie

Youth Support Worker

I’ve been a part of the Rosario team since 2018.

I started through my university placement in the Community Youth Work degree.

At the centre I’ve been involved in homework support groups, drop ins and mentor in the mentoring programme.

My favourite aspect of Rosario would be the drop ins as I love catching with so many young people and there is a buzz in the atmosphere during drop ins.

I think youth work is important as its universal and offers support and amazing opportunities for young people that they may not be able to access anywhere else.

Catherine Stelges

Auxiliary Staff

My name is Catherine and I have been a cleaner in Rosario Youth Club for 22 years.

I really enjoy my work, and I like the staff as they are all so friendly.

I enjoy the summer time because I see the hard work the staff put in with the kids doing activities and taking them out on trips.

It really is a brilliant wee club and I’m so glad to be part of it.
